Michael Saylor, Marathon Digital CEO Fred Thiel and 16 other crypto executives gathered on Capitol Hill to advance the Strategic Bitcoin Reserve bill. If passed, the U.S. could acquire up to 1 million BTC.

On September 16, 2025, 18 crypto executives attended a Capitol Hill roundtable hosted by Senator Cynthia Lummis and Representative Nick Begich to advance the BITCOIN Act — formally the "Boosting Innovation, Technology, and Competitiveness through Optimized Investment Nationwide Act."

The bill would establish Bitcoin as a U.S. strategic reserve asset and direct the government to acquire one million BTC over one year using "budget neutral strategies." Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has confirmed the U.S. already holds $15–20 billion in Bitcoin from seized assets.

Why it matters for marketers: If the bill passes, institutional confidence in Bitcoin will surge, driving a new wave of project launches, token sales and fundraising activity. Crypto marketing agencies and KOL networks will see unprecedented demand.

Key players at the roundtable: Michael Saylor (Strategy, 638,985 BTC), Fred Thiel (Marathon Digital), Tom Lee (BitMine), Haris Basit (Bitdeer), Brian Morgenstern (Riot), Matt Schultz (Cleanspark).

The bill currently has only Republican support and awaits hearings in both the House Financial Services Committee and Senate Banking Committee. DPN is framing it as a "bipartisan opportunity."
