Wise owned its core corridors but was near-invisible among the newer migrant communities across Central and Eastern Europe it wanted next, so we ran a community and creator program that grew verified senders and volume.

Multi-currency account for low-cost international transfers

The challenge: Wise moved money transparently, but in the Central and Eastern European corridors it was targeting next — spanning Poland, Germany, Romania, Czechia, Lithuania, Bulgaria and Serbia — senders defaulted to the operator their family had always used or to informal cash agents. Remittance is a trust-first purchase, and paid ads alone could not overcome that inertia. Verified-sender growth had stalled in the corridor even as the product and pricing advantage were clear.

Our strategy: We built the program around community trust rather than discount-led installs. The approach combined corridor-specific creators who send money themselves, earned media that established credibility and safety, and a referral layer that rewarded existing senders for bringing in family and friends. Messaging led with real fees, speed and reliability, localized into each community's own language.

What we did: We activated 21 diaspora creators across Poland, Germany, Romania, Czechia, Lithuania, Bulgaria and Serbia and secured placements in fintech and community press to validate the brand. Community teams supported first-time senders through verification and their opening transfer, while a restructured referral program turned satisfied users into a compounding channel. This engagement was scoped to a CIS and Europe campaign, not Wise's global footprint, so creative, payout methods and support hours were localized corridor by corridor.

Channels: YouTube KOLs, Facebook communities, Instagram, Tier-1 PR, Referral program

The results: Over ten months the corridor program grew to 3.2K active senders moving $34M in annualized transfer volume, with referral and creator sources cutting blended CAC 26%. Reach across the seven markets passed 800K in-community impressions, the corridor's average app rating rose to 4.8 as first-transfer support improved, and referrals became the lowest-cost, most durable source of verified senders.
